Uniper and Jena Flow Batteries are working towards a strategic partnership
Uniper has taken the first step in a planned collaboration with Jena Flow Batteries. Together, we aim to explore and scale long-duration energy storage, a key enabler of a renewable energy system.
Uniper’s goal: to gain early access to promising battery technology and help shape the future of energy storage in Europe.
Organic flow batteries offer clear benefits over conventional lithium-ion systems:
-Designed for storage durations of 4 to 10+ hours
-Highly stable over time, even with frequent cycling
-Easily scalable and with strong long-term cost potential
We’ve entered a joint concept phase, during which we’ll test the technology at one of our sites and evaluate how it performs under real-world conditions.
This collaboration is an important step on our path to building flexible, future-ready storage solutions.
